Vivian M. Cotte is SoHarlem’s Director of Communications & Strategy, after being their consulting
Communications Manager for the past 3 years. She began her career in the public relations offices
of Loehmann’s on Halsey Street in The Bronx, eventually landing at AC&R Public Relations on
Madison Avenue. With a degree in English and a minor in multi-media journalism, she pursued a
book and magazine publishing career working with publishers St. Martin’s Press, Random House
Children’s Books, and magazines Car & Driver, Flying, and the start-up Latina (Essence
Communications). The early internet start-up NiaOnline presented Vivian the opportunity to work
with journalists and writers whom she admired.
Launching Artea Creative has given Vivian the flexibility to work with a variety of start-ups,
including the opportunity to work with the Autism Coalition when they transitioned into Autism
Speaks. As the owner of Artea Creative, Vivian oversees all client projects and works individually
with specific clients as a production editor, web designer, marketing manager, and social media
consultant. Clients include authors, artists, entrepreneurs, and nonprofits such as Sapphire, Doris
Cordero, Theresa Varela, Dr. Raquel M. Ortiz, Carmen Bardeguez-Brown, Stephanie Cotsirilos,
DREAM! (Dare to Revitalize Education thru Arts & Mediation), Harlem School of the Arts, and
Comité Noviembre. A strong believer in the transformative impact of the arts and humanities, as a
volunteer literacy mentor, she works with organizations that expose youths to the arts and works
with nonprofits that help Bronx youth obtain their GEDs.
