A Met-Inspired Fall Window a nod to Superfine: Tailoring Black Style

Noah Ortiz, Founder and Artistic Director of Art in Heaven, upcycled a contemporary Dandyism outerwear jacket using materials generously donated by Dapper Dan.

Walter Joe Dixon, Artistic Director and Founder of ATASHI, paid tribute to Dandyism with his design, which features exquisite brocade textiles.

Climate Change Celebration: Young Designers Take on Gotham Kick-Off

Celebrating innovation and sustainability, our young designers from Dapper Dan’s “The Dream Connection For Young Entrepreneurs” pilot showcased their upcycled creations during Climate Week.

Partners with West Harlem Arts Alliance for Innovation Triangle Activation

The partnership between SoHarlem's Creative Entrepreneurs and the West Harlem Arts Alliance brought engaging programs and a popular pop-up shop to the Innovation Triangle in West Harlem.

Art in Heaven's Noah Ortiz offered a quick lesson in design innovation. The Artistic Director showed the audience how to construct a garment using his custom 30-minute, no-sew patterns, demonstrating the accessible side of design.

Filmmaker and Hollywood-Babylon Founder Kenny Allen and SoHarlem Creative Entrepreneur was honored at the event, where he screened his award-winning short film, Dapper Dan: Don’t Hate the Players Change the Game.

Kai Cogsville of Young Atlas and Flee Pesci co-hosted a wonderful, film-filled day in partnership with SoHarlem.

The film screenings were punctuated by a compelling panel discussion on the theme: Dapper Dan: Don’t Hate the Players Change the Game. The conversation was moderated by Tatianna Butler with panelists Kenny, Q, and Lucci.

Sewing for all! SoHarlem Sewist Gladys Perez made the craft accessible by setting up machines and leading demonstrations right at the Innovation Triangle pop-up.
