Helen Arias, Community Training Specialist
Helen is a native New Yorker who loves working in the human services field. In addition to her role as SoHarlem’s Community Training Specialist, Helen is a children’s mental health case manager. Raised by an immigrant, single-mother whose primary language was not English, Helen’s lived experience fuels her passion to advocate for and empower working class and under-resourced residents of Harlem, Upper Manhattan and the Bronx.
Helen has several years of customer service, managerial and accounting experience from previous roles with Whole Foods Market, NYU Hospital and Columbia University. She prides herself in being easy to work with, approachable and highly consistent.
Helen earned a B.A. in American History from SUNY Stony Brook, and a B.A. in Journalism from the City University of New York (CUNY); most recently Helen received her Community Health Worker certification from CUNY Hostos.
