Belkola Vasquez is the Founder and Creative Director of Belkola, a contemporary fashion design line - she started in 2017. She experiments with unusual materials such as zippers, fluids, and metals to create a chic wearable style that evokes femininity and art combined.
In 2021, she started Belkola Fashion Business where she teaches and mentors aspiring and emerging entrepreneurs on reaching their goals, applying critical thinking skills to design, and how to start a fashion business within your financial means.
Other professional experiences include, Fashion Illustrator with BVLGARI in New York. She created a catalog of handmade fashion illustrations for six limited-edition fragrances representing the countries and the woman who wears Bvlgari. The launch of these fragrances was at Bloomingdale’s in New York City where she signed all the handmade illustrations for the exclusive clients of the Bvlgari.
Belkola has also worked as a fashion stylist for A La Mode Management in Miami, Florida directing creative teams, collaborating with photographers, models, and make-up artists for print, digital, television fashion campaigns, and advertising. Belkola was a Fashion Design Assistant for Oscar de la Renta, responsible for model fittings, organizing samples of fabrics, trims, accessories referenced by designers during the creative process, reviewed finished products to ensure accuracy and quality standards, and she constructed and styled garments by hand and by machines.
She was educated as a pattern maker at Mercy Jackets in the Dominican Republic and earned her Associate of Arts in Fashion Design from Altos De Chavon in the Dominican Republic. In 2017, Belkola and her daughter settled in Harlem.
