She is the founder of Black in Casting Day™, officially recognized by New York State to acknowledge the accomplishments of Black casting directors and preserve their contributions for future generations.
After casting thousands of everyday people, Asjai recognized a common challenge: talent alone isn't enough if people don't know who you are or what you stand for. That insight inspired Build A World™, a strategy that helps creators, entrepreneurs, artists, and everyday people intentionally build a recognizable ecosystem where opportunities can find them.
Through SoHarlem's Business Incubation Program, Asjai is bringing that vision to life by growing Build A World™ into a platform that empowers the next generation of creatives. She leads the Build A World™ Creative Incubator, where college students and recent graduates gain hands-on experience in fashion, storytelling, media, technology, and creative entrepreneurship.
In partnership with SoHarlem's Fashion Department, she recruits and mentors emerging fashion designers, connecting them with real-world opportunities in upcycling, branding, content creation, and creative business development.
Together, SoHarlem and Asjai are reimagining how creative talent is discovered, developed, and sustained—helping creators not just build careers, but Build A World™.
