Diana Cherryholmes, Board Member

Diana is the Director of the Office of Film and Cultural Affairs for Suffolk County’s Department of Economic Development and Planning. The Office of Film and Cultural Affairs manages grant opportunities for filmmakers, independent film houses and cultural institutions, as well as working with the Citizens Advisory Board for the Arts and the Suffolk County Film Commission.

Formerly, she served as Executive Director of the Huntington Arts Council (Long Island, NY) for 14 years.

Since 2010, Cherryholmes has been serving on the Board of the Long Island Arts Alliance. In 1999, she served as a member of the NYS DanceForce. Other leadership experiences with industry and community organizations include the NYS Arts Coalition, Suffolk County Citizens Advisory Board for the Arts, and the Huntington Community Council.

Cherryholmes, founded the Long Island Dance Consortium, a membership organization of dance advocates, instructors, choreographers and presenters from throughout Long Island. She is a founding member of the arts advocacy group ARTS NYS COALITION, formed in 2011 to ensure the arts in New York State continue to thrive and have a united voice in developing long-term solutions for advocacy efforts and future growth.

She worked with the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency, and was Chair of the Festival Special Interest Group for Americans for the Arts.

Cherryholmes is a former panelist with the New York State Council on the Arts, Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, Pennsylvania Performing Arts on Tour, and New Jersey State Council on the Arts. Cherryholmes was selected to participate in the International Leadership Development Forum, a group of multi-national professionals with a goal of increasing international dance residency exchanges held in Aix-en-Provence, France. In 2007, she was named Woman of the Year Arts by Times of Huntington Newspaper.

Cherryholmes holds a B.A. in History and Religious Studies from Michigan State University and a M.A. in Community Arts Management from University of Illinois at Springfield.
